52 Week Cookbook Challenge

  • January 23, 2018

Hi I’m Sarah and I’m a cookbook addict. No really, I can flip through a cookbook and look at recipes for hours. In fact, many nights before bed I’ll pull out one of my cookbooks and read it before drifting off to sleep, dreaming of profiteroles, roasted chicken with zoug, chanterelles and stews.

One of the problems I often have however is actually MAKING the food from the cookbooks. So, this challenge is one for accountability and fun. Every week I am challenging myself to cook something new from one of my many, many beautiful cookbooks. I’ll post the pictures, recipe and directions as well as my review. I’ll also report on the difficulty level and the availability of ingredients.

So first book up this week is one I’ve had for years yet have never used: Michael Chiarello’s Casual Cooking book. Its a blend of Napa flavors with his Italian background. I’m looking forward to it. I hope you will join me each week as I try something new and hopefully delicious!

To read each week’s recipes, I’ll link them here:

Week 1 – Roasted Artichokes from Michael Chiarello’s “Casual Cooking”

Week 2 –  “The Best of Gourmet” – Lentils and Sausage

Week 3 – “Ottolenghi” – Turkey and sweetcorn meatballs with roasted pepper sauce

Week 4 – “Bon Appetit: Fast, Easy, Fresh” – Ranchero Beef Stew
